Fleet Charging Optimization
PACKLab Project: How can scheduling models support electric vehicle fleet adoption and guide infrastructure planning?
An Industrial and Systems Engineering Senior Design team developed dynamic optimization models and a proposed charging schedule to evaluate feasibility for future electric vehicles in the Facilities Division fleet.
Project Overview
Team: Industrial and Systems Engineering Senior Design course, University Sustainability Office, Fleet Services
Duration: Fall 2023
Status: Complete
Focus: Transportation
Summary
The senior design team engineered dynamic planning tools to optimize EV charging schedules and assist university leadership with long-term infrastructure deployment should electric vehicles be added to the Facilities fleet. As part of their deliverable, the team established a structured charging schedule tool that could be modified as electric vehicles were added.
Findings
The developed tools provide a scalable roadmap for EV infrastructure planning, supporting future fleet expansion.
