Chris Osburn is Director of Coastal Research and Innovation in the Climate and Sustainability Academy and Professor of Marine Biogeochemistry in the Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences at North Carolina State University. He also serves as the Director of the Blue Economy Innovation Program, which coordinates an annual student workshop on creating solutions for the global blue economy. Previously, he was a Research Chemist at the United States Naval Research Laboratory. His research interests span carbon and nitrogen cycling across the aquatic continuum and focus on the biogeochemistry of organic matter in surface waters and how optical and chemical properties of organic matter can be used in water quality applications and to understand global change.
